What to Expect When the Call is Made

A Clinical Professional Will Come to You

When a caregiver refers a child to New Jersey Children’s System of Care, a licensed clinical professional will visit the family’s home to complete a comprehensive assessment. Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) is designed to help maintain the stability of the child’s current living arrangement and support the family during times of crisis

Assessment of Your Needs

The assessment helps determine the most appropriate level of care for the child and family. For those requiring less intensive support, services are coordinated by the Contracted System Administrator in collaboration with the family and clinical provider. These services are typically short-term and are meant to guide families through challenging periods.

For families needing moderate to intensive support, care coordination is provided by the Care Management Organization (CMO) in your county. A dedicated Care Manager works with your family to build a Child & Family Team, led by the parent and child, with support and guidance from the Care Manager.

Child and Family Team Collaboration

The Child & Family Team (CFT) helps the youth, and the family create strategies to resolve the challenges they face. The Child & Family Team meet regularly to create and discuss strategies and support to be used. The Care Manager facilitates the process until the family and team are confident in continuing independently. Services through the Care Management Organization are provided on a need-based timeline.
